dreizehngrad comes from Dresden, on the 13th longitude. As simple and unconventional as the naming, are the designs of the young team. For the first time the founders Paul Finke and Jörg Zinser presented their lights on the Light & Building of 2010. Both graduates of the School of Economics and technology consider the Funk pendant lamp as detonation. This one was the focus at the exhibition and was popular with trade visitors and private clients.

dreizehngrad still stands in close contact with their old college. Regular internships of future graduates bring fresh ideas and new perspectives in the company. Interns and company founders share a passion for light and design. This passion was it, which moved them to set up their own lighting manufactory. They produce lights in series, but always unique, but also special commissions that are individually tailored to the customer. In their diploma subject, they dealt with wood veneer and light, the basic concept of their future company.

They combine tradition and modernity. The unique properties of the natural material wood, as inclusions and especially annual rings, each lamp tells its own story. Thus the Funk pendant lamp was developed, as one first lamps of the young German company, having a distinctive charm. The gossamer veneer is partially translucent and creates a warm, intense atmosphere. There are different types of wood available, which gives each light an individual character. The Funk series also offers floor lamps and table lights.

The young designers drew inspiration for their industrial lighting, the concept, however, new facets gained from the functional design and combined with natural materials. It differs from previous dreizehngrad lamps, because its lampshade is not made of veneer, but high-quality crystal. This is combined with oak, which is handmade in the Saxon Erzgebirge. The attention to detail and to their own product is noticeable in the young company founders.

From humble beginnings at the Light & Building 2010 developed dreizehngrad steadily and enthusiastic on the 2014er iteration of the important leading trade show with an innovative, modular booth, who represented the company perfectly.
