Office light - Illumination of work place
To work relaxed and ergonomically at the desktop, be it in your home office or place of employment, bright and primarily anti-glare lighting is the basic requirement. The all-over illumination of the room or at least around the work place should be in the illumination level between 300 and 500 lux. Evenly spread brightness increases the concentration, since your eyes do not have to adjust to different levels of brightness.
If your work place is situated at your house, ceiling lamps, suspension lamps or floor lamps with indirect light are the best solution. Lamps with bar-shaped fluorescent lamps are a professional solution for the work place. You should also pay attention to avoiding glare, neither direct nor indirect should light reflexes be formed on the monitor.
Follow our advice for a good basic illumination:
- 1. To working with a monitor applies: avoid large brightness contrasts and reflections.
- 2. Additionally to the work place illumination switch on the all-over illumination. This prevents a visual fatigue because of the permanent balance between different levels of brightness.
- 3. Rule of thumb: for right-handers: light from the left; for left-handers: light from the right.
- 4. The optimum conception of light: indirect ambient lighting (floor lamp/uplight) and flexible illumination of the work place.
- 5. Direct and reflection glare can be avoided
