&tradition - Iconic Designs from Denmark
Craftsmanship meets art, function meets form: &tradition lives up to its nordic heritage. The lights and lamps are charcaterised by typically Danish modesty. The manufacturer offers great designers of the 20th century, recent icons of the branch, as well as young and yet unknown designers, whose drafts might become classics of the future.
With headquarters in Copenhagen, centre of Scandinavian product design, &tradition produces globally in handpicked places. The high quality is a result of respect for nature and its material. The company embodies the Renaissance of natural materials and traditional craftsmenship, combined with modern manufacturing processes.
Thanks to Scandinavian simplicity, that also characterizes Le Klint or Design House Stockholm, design lights by &tradition convince with their timeless appearance. They are minimalist and functional, but always have that special something, and always combine exceptional design with high end materials and quality workmanship. Local raw materials and the experience of resident craftsmen and artists contribute to sustainable production, from which both the Danish capital and &tradition can benefit. Their global manufacturing sites are handpicked as well to ensure optimal results.
Arne Jacobsen, who has designed many timeless classics for Louis Poulsen, proved his significance for contemporary industrial design once more with the Bellevue AJ Series. The Lamp combines rounded shapes with distinct lines and is considered an icon of early Functionalism. In addition to furniture, like the famous chair “Egg”, the Bellevue AJ collection was also added to the exhibition in the Copenhagen Museum of Design. That shows its importance in Arne Jacobsen’s opus and in the history of design significantly.
The Flowerpot Series includes classic pendant lights and functional table lamps, which emit particularly pleasant light thanks to their special design. The Danish architect and industrial designer Verner Panton created the iconic design in the era of Flower Power, which also inspired the name of this timeless series. It is one of the first winners of the prestigious "Good Form" award, which honours factual, yet aesthetic designs.
The Bulb and Mega Bulb cut down the suspension light to its essentials, adding new facets to the appearance. At the same time it represents the purist ideas that characterize the company. Sometimes the simplest, most traditional form is the most expressive. Through innovative, unusual designs the Danish manufacturer achieved an outstanding portfolio, thus winning even an experimental and joyful clientele.
The Milk table light was inspired by Zeelandic farmers around Copenhagen and reminds you of a milking stool. &tradition goes back to a past before the Industrial Revolution and applies it to modern times. It works just perfect!
